San Francisco Wedding Photographer - Capturing The Magic and Miracle of Your Wedding

Making beautiful images is as important to me as sharing your love with friends and family is to you. I am happily married and have utmost respect and reverence for love and union, and a deep appreciation for ritual.

Looking at pictures online is a great first step in choosing a wedding photographer. It is an easy way to narrow down potential photographers in the convenience of your home. What cannot be conveyed, however, is personality and how well your photographer will be able to work with you on your wedding day. This can be a pretty stressful time! I like to spend quality time with my clients at interviews and engagement sessions. Taking the time to get to know each other makes it easier to spend 10 hours together.

It is very difficult to know whether you're making the right decision. With the sample weddings you are shown, you should look at the photographer's photos with an eye for what makes it different from an everyday snapshot and how consistent is the photographer over the course of the day. It is not hard to get a dozen images from different weddings and look impressive. Take a look at wedding album 1, wedding album 2, wedding album 3, and wedding album 4 to see what I mean about being able to get good photographs throughout your wedding day.

Also at a wedding consultation, you will of course be able to peruse a greater assortment of albums and proofs, and see the detail and emotion of the art. More examples of my photography can be seen at the portrait photography page. I take the job of professionally photographing your wedding very seriously and am committed to creating a work of art during this most precious day. I sincerely appreciate your interest.

Pricing information can be found here. All packages include photo negatives and/or a cd of all wedding images. Please look through my wedding portfolio and read my client's words of praise. Contact me if you have any questions or would like to set up an interview. Choosing a photographer is an important choice: you want your wedding day photos to bring back in the magical feeling every time your look at them!

I have heard there are many different styles of wedding photography. What is your style?

I photograph weddings in a fine art, photojournalistic style. My goal is to capture the spirit and joy of the wedding day creatively, by producing images that will be precious to look at.

What is wedding photojournalism, and what does that mean for my wedding?

Documentary wedding photojournalism is a style that tells a narrative creatively with photographs. From these photographs you will relive the joy and love you felt on your wedding day. A wedding photojournalist lets the wedding go at its own pace, rather than stopping the action to stage a particular moment. With a documentary wedding photographer you will not feel as if the photographer "runs the show." I don't direct; I capture moments as they unfold. The wedding party is mostly unaware that they are being photographed. Clients say they want/wanted me as their San Francisco photographer because of the way I capture feeling and emotion. Years from now you'll be able to look at your pictures and remember how you felt at the moment of each picture. Capturing a moment in time is very important to me. People have commented, "You took so many great pictures and we didn't even know you were there."

What is a traditional wedding photographer?

"Traditional" photographers concentrate largely on posed photographs. If you choose a traditional approach you will be asked to pose for the majority of your photographs.

What if I want a documentary style wedding photography, but I also want formal pictures of my friends and family?

I take "formal" family photographs; in fact, I recommend them, for it's the only way to make sure you are photographed with the people closest to you. I once photographed a wedding in which the couple did not want "formal" photographs. I happened to get a great shot of the groom and his sister who lives in Australia, but it is better to make certain you are going to get the pictures you want.

How do we reserve a date?

Call or e-mail me as soon as possible to let me know you have made a decision. I will send you a contract to sign and return with a deposit. No wedding is booked until a signed contract and deposit are received.
